Medium: Wool Cushion Cover – 16in (40cm)

Willie’s painting depicts his late brother’s country, located in the remote north-west of South Australia, within the Anangu Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara Lands. This work is a tribute to his brother, who has passed away.

At the heart of the painting is a large waterhole known as kapi piti. Surrounding the waterhole lie kuniya (pythons), resting on the land. The scene captures the country during the dry season—before the rains arrive and replenish the waterhole.

When the rain eventually comes, the once-barren landscape is transformed. Life returns to the land, bursting with wildflowers and native plants, reflecting the beauty and vitality of Country after the rains.
