Rama’s painting depicts people gathered for an inma (ceremony) near Pipalyatjara, in his ancestral country of Kuntjanu. The artwork shows wati tjuta, minma, tjiti tjuta, walytja tjuta – many men, women, children, and families – sitting together, singing, talking, and observing the unfolding events. Each circle in the composition represents an individual participating in the ceremony.
Rama holds a deep cultural knowledge of Kuntjanu Tjukurpa, the ancestral stories of his homeland. His work often explores the Wanampi Tjukurpa – the Rainbow Serpent Dreaming – portraying the powerful spiritual presence and stories of this creation being in the landscape and culture of his people.
